David A. Tomb, MD

Intermountain Healthcare is proud to welcome psychiatrist David A. Tomb, M.D. to the Southern Utah Behavioral Health Clinic in St. George, Utah.

Although his practice focuses on general adult psychiatry, Dr. Tomb also has specialized training in child and adolescent care. His extensive administrative experience dates back to 1978 when he was Medical Director at the Utah State Hospital in Provo. Since then, he has served in numerous Director and Chair positions, most recently serving as the Medical Director at North Valley Mental Health in Salt Lake City, prior to joining Intermountain.
 
Dr. Tomb received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1972. After completing his residency in adult psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Utah, Dr. Tomb stayed at the University to serve as a tenured Associate Professor for more than 20 years.

Dr. Tomb has written several books, the best known of which is probably a general text book of psychiatry, Psychiatry for the House Officer, which is currently in its 7th edition. He holds a lifetime certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. ​
