Dirk L. Slade, MD

Zion Orthopedics & Sports Medicine announces the arrival of Dr. Dirk Slade, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery.

Dr. Slade earned his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Traveling to Ft. Gordon, Georgia, he completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Between his internship and residency, Dr. Slade served as a battalion surgeon at Camp Greaves in South Korea, where he was a primary care provider for an infantry of soldiers.

Dr. Slade fulfilled a hand surgery fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Union Memorial Hospital’s Curtis National Hand Center. He has since worked as an orthopedic hand surgeon and Orthopedic Clinic Officer at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. During this time, he was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Texas Tech University of Health Sciences. He also served a tour in Afghanistan, treating orthopedic injuries in soldiers and civilian nationals.

Dr. Slade is board certified in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery and belongs to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is highly knowledgeable of hand trauma, nerve healing, arthroscopic repair, and microvascular surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Slade devotes his time to hiking, camping, trail running, family activities, and studying history.
