Intermountain Medical Center News Advisory

WHAT: On Monday, Oct. 29, five years to the day that Intermountain Medical Center in Murray opened, some of the hospital’s smallest, and very first, patients will return to help staff celebrate the medical center’s 5th anniversary.

Five of Intermountain Medical Center’s milestone “first” patients including the first patients admitted to the hospital – a set of premature triplets airlifted to the newborn ICU – will be on hand to celebrate the 5th anniversary.

Joining the triplets will be the first baby born at Intermountain Medical Center (delivered the morning of October 29), the first heart transplant patient, the first liver transplant patient, and the center’s first kidney / pancreas transplant patient.

Since opening on October 29, 2007, Intermountain Medical Center has become the state’s busiest hospital campus, treating nearly 3.2 million patients from throughout the nation. It has been recognized as one of the premier medical centers in the country, and was featured this fall in a national PBS documentary for its delivery of high-quality, cost–effective patient care.

Patients, staff and others will meet for a special reunion event at 11 am, followed by a special community luncheon to mark the hospital’s 5th anniversary at noon.
