Intermountain appoints new VP of Clinical Support Services

Greg Blackburn has accepted a new system-wide position as Vice President of Clinical Support Services.  Greg currently serves as Operations Officer for McKay-Dee Hospital Center and will begin his new assignment on January 2, 2013.


In this new position, Greg will be accountable for pharmacy, lab, rehab, pain management, dialysis, imaging, and other potential areas that may be deemed appropriate in the future. Announced last month, this position was created to bring additional focus to our Clinical Services as we continue to develop our Shared Accountability strategy.

"Greg comes to this position with seven years of exemplary leadership at Intermountain," said Laura Kaiser, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Intermountain Healthcare. "His experience prepares him well for his new assignment, which is critical to our efforts to promote evidence-based best practices and provide highly effective, high-value care."

Greg joined Intermountain in 2005 as director of Rehabilitation Services at McKay-Dee Hospital, and he began his role as Operations Officer in 2008. Prior to joining Intermountain, he held director positions at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Colo., and he began his career as a Clinical Intern at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Greg received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in Pre-Physical Therapy and Clinical Exercise Physiology, respectively, from Utah State University in Logan, and he received an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Regis University in Denver.
