Intermountain names Steven Huebner to Board of Trustees

Intermountain Healthcare has named Steven Huebner to serve on its Board of Trustees. Huebner is a retired partner of the audit, tax, and advisory firm KPMG and directed audit and financial services for several healthcare, higher education, and nonprofit organizations.

Intermountain's Board of Trustees is comprised of 20 individuals who volunteer their time without pay to direct the nonprofit organization. Board members set policy, create goals, evaluate management's performance, and ensure Intermountain operates in the best interest of the community. In addition to the trustees who serve on Intermountain's central Board, trustees also serve on governing boards for hospitals and other care services, as well as charitable foundation boards.

As a consultant, Huebner advises boards and management teams in developing and improving financial reporting systems and processes. He has had significant experience with numerous healthcare, higher education, and nonprofit organizations, consulting in the areas of governance, financial oversight, risk management, and performance. Before his partner role with KPMG for 10 years, Huebner was with the accounting firm Arthur Anderson in Seattle for 28 years.

In addition to working with Intermountain Healthcare and other organizations during his career, Huebner has worked with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children's Hospital, Oregon Health & Science University, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Seattle University, University of Washington, UW Medicine, and Virginia Mason Medical Center. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Washington.

Intermountain Healthcare is a Utah-based, nonprofit system of 22 hospitals, 185 clinics, a Medical Group with about 1,000 employed physicians, a health plans division called SelectHealth, and other health services. Intermountain is widely recognized as a leader in transforming healthcare through high quality and sustainable costs.
