The Intermountain Healthcare Community Care Foundation recently announced a partnership to help Sealants for Smiles expand its charitable dental services to elementary schools with at-risk children. A special presentation was made at Franklin Elementary School in Salt Lake City.
Over a three-year period, Intermountain will give $100,000 to provide oral health education, evaluations by a licensed Utah dentist, and fluoride varnish and dental sealants to elementary schools with greater than 50 percent enrollment in free or reduced school lunch programs. This expansion will include eligible elementary schools throughout Utah.
"We are very appreciative to Intermountain Healthcare," said Roger Adams, DMD, president and CEO of Sealants for Smiles. "We are projecting to visit 30 new schools in 2013."

"Sealants for Smiles is a beautiful example of making an impact in the overall health of our community."
Sealants for Smiles is a nonprofit organization based in Salt Lake City that has operated since 2007 and has provided more than $6 million of free dental services to Utah children. During this time, untreated dental needs have dropped from 51 percent to 28 percent and more than 25,000 children have received dental sealants through the program. Sealants for Smiles is supported by various individuals and organizations, including Dental Select, which donates all administrative services, allowing 100 percent of all contributions to go directly to program services.
More than 25,000 Utah students have received sealants from Sealants for Smiles that recently hosted a clinic at Franklin Elementary School.
