Logan Regional Honored With American Heart Association Gold Quality Award

The American Heart Association has recognized Logan Regional Hospital with a prestigious national award—the Get With The Guidelines®—Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award. Laura King Hahn, American Heart Association regional director of Quality Improvement Initiatives, presented the award Wednesday to Mike Clark, Logan Regional Hospital CEO, and Neil Perkes, Chief Nursing Officer. This is the first year Logan Regional has achieved this Gold Quality Achievement Award.

Hahn said this recognition signifies that Logan Regional has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients according to the guidelines of care recommended by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology. “It is a real honor for me to recognize the great work you are doing at Logan Regional Hospital,” she said. “Thank you for your commitment to quality care and for your support of the American Heart Association."

Logan Regional’s achievement was recognized in U.S. News and World Report’s 2012 Best Hospitals edition, and at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions, held in November in Los Angeles, California.

Get With The Guidelines–Heart Failure helps Logan Regional’s staff develop and implement acute and secondary prevention guideline processes to improve patient care and outcomes. The program provides hospitals with a web-based patient management tool, best practice discharge protocols and standing orders, along with a robust registry and real-time benchmarking capabilities to track performance. The quick and efficient use of guideline procedures can improve the quality of care for heart failure patients, save lives and ultimately reduce healthcare costs by lowering the recurrence of heart attacks.

”Many Logan Regional team members helped us gear up to meet these important guidelines,” said Clark. “This is a great honor for our hospital and reflects our commitment to providing exceptional care to our community.”
