Logan Regional Hospital senior leadership recently appointed three new managers to key positions.
Gary Stephens is the new manager of Engineering Services. He brings more than 27 years of aerospace experience to his role at Logan Regional. Stephens managed NASA contracts in the space shuttle program for Thiokol, where he served as program manager over the Space Shuttle Rocket Joint Protection System following the Challenger Space Shuttle explosion. He managed several design and development programs until the Space Shuttle program ended in 2010. From 2010-2012, he served as an Aerospace Safety Consultant.
Stephens earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in industrial education from Utah State University.
As Engineering manager at Logan Regional, Stephens said his first goal is to continue the legacy established in recent years of lowering the hospital’s use of energy, water and gas. “By reducing our energy consumption, we can lower costs and reduce our ‘carbon footprint.’ We want to sustain our environment for future generations living in our valley.”
Angela Ashcroft is the new manager of the Newborn Care Unit (NCU). She previously served as a charge shift nurse on the NCU for nine years. “Angela has a positive way of approaching people which demonstrates mutual respect and puts them at ease,” said Jolene Kobe, director of Women and Newborn Services at Logan Regional.
Ashcroft earned both her associate and bachelor of nursing degrees from Weber State University. She is currently working toward a clinical doctorate degree as a neonatal nurse practitioner from the University of Utah. She also teaches students in the licensed practical nursing program at Bridgerland Applied Technology College.
Kim Thompson is the new manager of Central Processing. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Utah State University and taught physical education and second grade at North Park Elementary School for four years. In addition, Thompson has worked as a central processing technician at Logan Regional for 16 years.
“Kim brings a tremendous amount of experience to her role and understands the importance Central Processing plays in the operations of our hospital,” said Brandon McBride, Logan Regional operations officer.
