Mental health partnership to expand urgent care services

Provo — Urgent behavioral health services for the underinsured or non-insured in Utah County will soon be expanding thanks to a partnership between Wasatch Mental Health Services and Intermountain Healthcare.

Intermountain Healthcare recently made a $20,000 donation to Wasatch Mental Health Services. As a result of this and other recent contributions, Wasatch Mental Health will be able to provide much needed emergent care services, follow-up and coordination of care to individuals who otherwise likely would only access care when an immediate need would require going to a hospital emergency room.

"This significant contribution from Intermountain Healthcare allows us to implement a much needed assessment, referral, and coordination/follow-up program for clients who are indigent and often rely on the emergency department for their behavioral healthcare. We sincerely appreciate Intermountain's partnership in this effort," said Juergen E. Korbanka, Ph.D., CEO of Wasatch Mental Health.

"As a nonprofit healthcare system, Intermountain Healthcare's priority is to improve health in the communities we serve," said Mikelle Moore, president of the Intermountain Community Care Foundation. "We are grateful to support Wasatch Mental Health in its good work to provide care for low-income and uninsured individuals in need."
