Logan Regional Hospital named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals

LOGAN, Utah — Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital was named today as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® for 2013 by Truven Health Analytics, formerly the healthcare business of Thomson Reuters. Logan Regional and the other 100 Top Hospitals are recognized in today’s edition of Modern Healthcare online as the best U.S. hospitals in providing quality healthcare at a reasonable cost, having safeguards in place to protect patients from medical errors, and providing medical treatments proven to get results.

Truven Health Analytics, a nationally respected benchmarking company, conducts the annual Top 100 Hospitals study using objective research and independent public data to evaluate a hospital’s performance in quality of care, level of service, and value for the patient. They award the hospitals that receive the highest national scores in those areas.

“This is a great honor for our hospital and recognizes the staff and the physicians for their pursuit to provide extraordinary care to our patients,” said Logan Regional CEO Mike Clark. “We are all very pleased at this recognition, and it is a sincere privilege to work with such dedicated professionals.”

This is the second time Logan Regional has been recognized with the Top 100 Hospitals award since the study’s inception in 1993; the last time was in 2002. “The award demonstrates to our community members that their health and well-being is the central focus in all we do and that we continually strive to improve our service to them,” said Clark. Logan Regional shares this honor this year with two other Intermountain Healthcare facilities, McKay-Dee Hospital Center, in Ogden, and Alta View Hospital, in Salt Lake City.

“The winners of the 100 Top Hospitals award have driven the national benchmarks higher every year for 20 years,” said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president at Truven Health Analytics. “This year’s winners have brought even higher value to their local communities, while confronting the challenges of industry-wide transformation to implement healthcare reform.”

Chenoweth attributes these leading hospitals’ success to visionary leadership that develops and maintains a hospital-wide culture of excellence and adopting new technologies and techniques. Hospitals do not apply for the 100 Top Hospitals award and winners do not pay to market this honor.
