LDS Hospital Receives Recognition from Becker's

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Becker's Hospital Review has included LDS Hospital on its annual list of "100 Great Hospitals." LDS Hospital was chosen because of its ongoing improvement efforts in clinical and service quality and its place as an innovator for medical treatments, research, technology, and care delivery. 

 

To develop the list, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team accepted nominations, conducted research, and considered other reputable hospital ranking sources such as U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals, HealthGrades, Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the Studer Group, and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipients.

 

 “Just to be considered by Becker’s means we’re being recognized as a top hospital,” says Jim Sheets, LDS’s administrator. “I’m proud of the reputation we’ve built locally for providing highly personalized care and nationally for clinical quality and service excellence.”

 

“LDS Hospital, part of Intermountain Healthcare, also based in Salt Lake City, is a 217-bed community hospital,” said Becker’s. “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints established the hospital in 1905 and it was largely funded by W. H. Groves, a dentist and member of the church who came to Utah from England. U.S. News & World Report ranked LDS Hospital as the top hospital in Utah this past year, and LDS Hospital is also ranked 29th in the country in gynecology. HealthGrades has also bestowed several awards to the hospital, including excellence in critical care, emergency medicine, and joint replacement. In December, LDS Hospital became the first hospital in Utah to offer bronchial thermoplasty to patients with severe asthma.”
