Welcome John L. Clayton, MD, PhD

Intermountain Medical Group welcomes John L. Clayton, MD, PhD to the Southridge Clinic. He has spent the last three years completing a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

 

Dr. Clayton earned his Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Utah before attending Tulane University in New Orleans where he achieved a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology before attending medical school. Dr. Clayton then completed a five year general surgery residency at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles, California where he was awarded the outstanding resident II award and is currently certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Clayton has been actively involved in research during all aspects of his training. He has 21 peer-reviewed publications, has given over 50 presentations, and currently serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Clayton and his wife Heidi, are the parents of three children and are happy to call Utah home.
