Welcome John Christian Capener, DO

Intermountain Medical Group welcomes John Christian Capener, DO to the Southridge Clinic. For the last three years, he’s been practicing at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, serving as the head of gastroenterology.

 

Dr. Capener earned his doctor of osteopathy at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after graduating from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology. Dr. Capener served an internal medicine internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California where he went on to serve an internal medicine residency. He was deployed onboard the USS Tarawa as the medical officer with Fleet Surgical Team 3 during operation enduring freedom.  After deployment Dr. Capener returned to medical training where he completed a three year fellowship in Gastroenterology at Naval Medical Center San Diego, specializing in advanced endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Capener is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and belongs to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
