DR. ANNE RUSSO FROM TOSH – THE ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALTY HOSPITAL DISCUSSES HOW TO PROPERLY DEAL WITH POTENTIAL CONCUSSIONS
WHAT:
With fall sports underway across the nation, medical experts and trainers are urging parents and coaches to be aware of the serious consequences of youngsters playing sports who suffer concessions and
other brain injuries to ensure that young athletes are being treated and cared for in the most effective way.
A concussion is a brain injury and needs to be taken seriously. It's estimated that 53% of high school athletes have sustained a concussion before participation in high school sports, and 36% of collegiate
athletes have a history of multiple concussions. Some studies have shown that girls are more likely than their male counterparts to sustain a concussion, and they tend to have more symptoms and require
more time to recover.
How can caregivers do what’s best for children when it comes to concussions?
