Free and Reduced Cost Screenings Invited to Riverton Hospital’s Community Health Fair on June 21

The 5K begins at 9 a.m. followed by a free healthy breakfast at 9:30 a.m. The health fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include free and low cost screenings, health information, a behind-the-scenes look at surgery procedures and drawings for gifts. 

Riverton Hospital is located at 3741 West 12600 South. 

“This year we have more interactive activities for the whole family,” says Riverton Hospital Administrator Blair Kent. “We’re excited to open our doors and invite the community in to see the great work that goes on here and show how much we appreciate their support.” 

The Family 5K starts at 9 a.m. To register, go online towww.rivertonhospital.org. The race is $25 for a family of six, $15 for couples and $10 for individuals. 

Some of the things to do at Saturday’s fair: 

Get lab tests done for under $10 

• CBC - $5 (blood count) 

• CMP - $9 (glucose & electrolytes) 

• Lipid Panel* - $8 (cholesterol & triglycerides) * Fast for 9 hours (water & medication OK) 

• PSA $8 (men only – prostate cancer screening). You cab pre-pay at the cashier’s office, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or the day of the health fair.) 

Get free health screenings including free blood pressure checks, balance and vision screenings, pulmonary function testing and body fat compositions. 

Get information about your medications. A pharmacist will be on hand to help answer questions about medications you’re taking or considering. 

Check out a fire truck, police cruiser, ambulance and more. A number of police and fire vehicles will be on display in the parking lot along with information on child safety in and around cars. 

Visit the Imaging Department for interactive displays about ultrasound, MRI, and CT procedures. 

Womens’ Health Information will be available. 

Come to the Emergency Department’s Teddy Bear Clinic where they’ll show kids how to stich up and fix their teddy bear’s owies. 

Learn about living with and treating asthma from the experts in Riverton’s Children’s Unit with games and activities. 

Visit Primary Children’s Outpatient Services for children’s health assessments. 

Visit our New Community Corner with local partner agencies. We will also have free drawings and prizes.
