Intermountain Healthcare receives Governor's energy award

Salt Lake City - The Utah Office of Energy Development has chosen Intermountain Healthcare as the recipient of a Governor’s Excellence in Energy Award and named Intermountain the “Energy Community Leader of the Year.”

The award was one of three honors announced at the Governor’s 2014 Energy Development Summit, which had more than 1,200 attendees and included nearly 400 participating organizations. The three award winners – Intermountain Healthcare, Enel Green Power North America, and Burton Lumber – were selected from among dozens of applications that reflected the variety of energy development activities underway in Utah.

The Utah Office of Energy Development cited Intermountain’s energy management and conservation program, an active Sustainability Council, and the hosting of an annual internal Energy Symposium. It also highlighted the fact that Intermountain’s energy management program has reduced energy costs by almost 10 percent since its inception in 2008.
