Salt Lake City – Modern Healthcare magazine has named Intermountain Healthcare’s Charles Sorenson, MD, president and CEO, among the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.”
The annual ranking honors individuals who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential people in the industry, in terms of leadership and impact. The 2014 ranking has Dr. Sorenson at No. 38 and as the only Utahn on the list, which includes federal and state government leaders, heads of regulatory agencies, healthcare system leaders, and leaders of healthcare associations and organizations.
This is the fourth year that Dr. Sorenson has been included on the list. Other notable individuals on the 2014 list include President Barack Obama; Bernard Tyson, CEO of Kaiser Permanete; Sylvia Mathews Burwell, U.S. Health and Human Services secretary; John Noseworthy, MD, CEO of the Mayo Clinic; Toby Cosgrove, MD, CEO of the Cleveland Clinic; and Richard Umbdenstock, president of the American Hospital Association.
Dr. Sorenson has also been recognized among Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare.”
