15 Utah Moms Complete 100-day My Heart Challenge

WHAT:

Fifteen Utah moms who completed the intense 100-day My Heart Challenge competition to become more heart healthy will be honored Wednesday by the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute for their perseverance.

Three of the moms will be awarded $1,000 toward their charity-of-choice for meeting weight loss and other health improvement goals at a special celebration ceremony to honor all of the participants in the 2015 My Heart Challenge: Moms Edition.

Since Mother’s Day, these busy Utah moms have been working with an exercise specialist, dietitian and therapist to help them evaluate their health and implement changes into their lifestyle to help them and their families be more heart healthy. As a result, many of the moms have become more active, lost weight, improved family nutrition and became examples to members of their communities.

“We had an amazing group of women competing in this year’s My Heart Challenge,” said Donald Lappé, MD, chief of cardiology of the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute. “We are honored to have played a role in guiding them to not only make the personal lifestyle changes for their own health, but in watching them influence their children, families, neighbors and communities toward better health.”

The My Heart Challenge competition is sponsored by the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute in Murray.
