State’s Largest and Most Advanced Hospital-Based Medical Simulation Center To Open at LDS Hospital

WHAT:
Intermountain Healthcare will join the ranks of other premiere institutions such as Duke University and Johns Hopkins by opening the state’s largest and most advanced medical simulation center at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

The new state-of-the-art simulation center at LDS Hospital will help train current and future doctors, nurses and healthcare staff. The Intermountain Simulation Center is also aimed at increasing patient safety and improving clinical outcomes through hands-on simulated scenarios in real-life settings.

News media are invited to the ribbon-cutting event on Tuesday, August 25, at 1 p.m. at LDS Hospital to see first-hand some of the new features available in the Intermountain Simulation Center.

The Intermountain Simulation Center is equipped with the most advanced simulation technology and allows staff the opportunity to develop and practice physical skills, critical thinking, decision-making, collaboration, and communication in a safe, realistic environment.

The Intermountain Simulation Center will be open to the public the following day, August 26, from 1 to 9 p.m. as part of a community open house.

VISUALS:
During the ribbon-cutting event, experts will conduct hands-on demonstrations in several of the simulation rooms, including an intensive care unit simulation, CPR training and a demonstration of TeleHealth.
