Joint Commission recognizes 11 Intermountain hospitals as Top Performers

A total of 29 community/acute care hospitals are accredited by the Joint Commission in Utah.

The national list of top performers represents the top 31.5 percent of all Joint Commission-accredited hospitals “that attained excellence in accountability measure performance during the calendar year 2014,” according to the Joint Commission. 

Hospitals on the list were recognized for excellence in nine categories — heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, venous thromboembolism, stroke, immunization, and perinatal care. 

Intermountain’s hospitals were recognized as follows: 

• Alta View: Pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care
• American Fork: Pneumonia, surgical care, immunization, and perinatal care
• Cedar City: Surgical care and perinatal care
• Intermountain Medical Center: Heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care
• LDS Hospital: Pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care
• Logan Regional: Heart attack, pneumonia, surgical care, venous thromboembolism, and perinatal care
• Orem Community: Immunization and perinatal care
• Park City: Pneumonia, surgical care, venous thromboembolism, and immunization
• Primary Children’s: Children’s asthma
• TOSH: Surgical care, venous thromboembolism, and immunization
• Utah Valley: Heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, immunization, and perinatal care

The top-performing hospitals were recognized for achieving 95 percent or better on Joint Commission standards. Click here

The Joint Commission has released a list of hospitals it considers to be “Top Performers on Key Quality Measures” — and 11 of the 15 Utah hospitals that are on the list are Intermountain facilities.
