Free Workshop on Men’s Health Issues is Thursday at Riverton Hospital

A free workshop on common health issues affecting men of all ages — sports injuries, male infertility, erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, and more is this Thursday, September 15, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Riverton Hospital, 3741 W. 12600 South. The classes are in the Riverton/Herriman classrooms on the north end of the hospital’s first floor.

Riverton Hospital urologist John Gannon, MD, and orthopedic surgeon Eric Dockter, MD, will lead the workshop — which will address the fact that men tend to take more risks with their health and don't seek medical help as often as women do, according to the Utah Department of Health. Men who attend the workshop will have a chance to win tickets for two to Top Golf, a golf driving range with microchip technology and an upscale eatery in Midvale.

“Men just don’t think about managing their health until it starts affecting their performance in activities they enjoy, such as sports,” says Dr. Dockter. “If they have an injury, they might decide to see a doctor. A good physician will treat the injury, but also will talk to them about their overall health.”

“If men are struggling with infertility, erectile dysfunction, or prostate issues, they may be hesitant to see a doctor, but these conditions are very common and many treatment options are available,” says Dr. Gannon. “Medications and surgical procedures in urology are improving all the time.”

Join us for an educational evening on everything from sports injuries to urology concerns, and have a chance to win two tickets to Top Golf.
