Utah Hospital to Live Tweet Nation’s First Case Using New Heart Mapping Technology for Treatment of Heart Arrhythmias

During the procedure, Intermountain Medical Center will share photos and videos via Twitter of the process involved in using St. Jude Medical’s EnSite PrecisionTM cardiac mapping system to create 3-D images of the heart. This new system, with advanced visuals and pinpoint accuracy, will help Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute electrophysiologist John Day, MD, block electrical currents in the heart that causes the abnormal rhythms. The new technology was just approved by the Food and Drug Administration for commercial use, which sets the stage for Monday’s inaugural case.

Live information about the case will be shared from Intermountain Medical Center’s Twitter account (@IntermtnMedCtr) and the public can follow and interact using the hashtag #HeartInstitute.
