David Flood, senior vice president, chief development officer, and president of the Intermountain Foundation, which supports Intermountain Healthcare, has been named the 2019 recipient of a prestigious international award for healthcare philanthropy.

Flood is being presented with the prestigious Harold J. (Si) Seymour Award by the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). Since 1970, the annual award recognizes a person whose career reflects excellence and outstanding leadership in the field of healthcare philanthropy. It is the highest honor given by the AHP.

“I will forever be honored by this recognition, but I know this embodies the tireless work of great teams, dedicated volunteer leadership and impassioned donors,” said Flood. “What the foundation team at Intermountain Healthcare has done over the past few years is nothing short of extraordinary.”

Flood has worked with Intermountain Healthcare since 2013 and his philanthropy efforts have touched millions of lives. He has also shared his knowledge with charitable organizations around the world in the hope that other healthcare, social service and education organizations thrive.

“Under David’s leadership, Intermountain Foundation has inspired contributions approaching $300 million—more than doubling the amount raised over the previous five years,” said Marc Harrison, MD, president and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare. “His team’s remarkable fundraising stems from Intermountain Foundation’s stellar reputation for investing wisely back into the community.”

Through the Intermountain Foundation, Flood and his team have employed new and innovative ways to inspire and stretch every dollar donated to positively impact as many lives as possible by enhancing access, affordability and the quality of healthcare at Intermountain and beyond.

This is accomplished through investments to fuel innovative research to advance treatments for chronic illnesses and diseases, patient education and support programs, advanced technology acquisition, construction and upgrade of patient-friendly facilities, and delivery of care to the underserved.

The foundation has even greater ambitions ahead, with the expansion of children’s healthcare as a growing emphasis.

Flood will receive the award at the AHP Annual International Conference in Washington D.C. in October.
