Personal Bio & Interests

Kelsey M. DeSalvo, MD, was born and raised in Colorado. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she was selected for the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, won the Jacob Van Ek Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Contributions to the University, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She completed her medical doctorate at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus where she won several awards including the Gottesfeld Memorial Award for Overall Outstanding Student Performance in Medical School, and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and her Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. During her training, Dr. DeSalvo gained an expertise in fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules, initiated studies highlighting deficits in iodine content in prenatal vitamins (needed by the thyroid gland and brain of a developing fetus), and won the quality improvement incentive award for her research on the appropriate indications to use intravenous thyroid medication. Dr. DeSalvo is a fellowship trained Endocrinologist who sees adult patients with a broad range of endocrine diseases and disorders. Endocrinology primarily deals with understanding glands and hormones in the body. Dr. DeSalvo enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients and strives to find them a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan. She prides herself on her commitment to providing excellent patient care. In her free time, Dr. DeSalvo spends time with her husband, son, and dog. They enjoy many outdoor adventures, including hiking, camping and downhill skiing. She also enjoys reading.
