The 1st Anniversary party at Spanish Fork Hospital included a life-size Operation game.

Spanish Fork Hospital officially opened its doors on April 5, 2021. The hospital has since performed more than 2,000 surgeries and 1,700 endoscopy cases, seen more than 15,000 patients in the Emergency Department, done more than 25,000 images (including CT, ultrasound, MRI, and mammograms), admitted more than 1,300 patients to the Med/Surg Unit, and delivered more than 500 babies.

The hospital opened amid the COVID-19 pandemic, so grand opening events were very limited. Many community members weren’t able to see the new hospital up close. Restrictions have now eased, so the community was invited to learn about the many resources available at the new hospital at a recent one-year anniversary celebration.

“Because Spanish Fork Hospital opened for service in April 2021 during COVID-19 restrictions, we weren’t able to host an event for the community,” says Megan Johnson, nurse administrator of Spanish Fork Hospital. “That’s why we were excited to invite the community to join us to celebrate this important milestone.”

Visitors were able to experience various activities, including a life-size game of Operation, face painting, and much more. In addition, residents dropped off old medication to be safely disposed of at the medication drop box. They were also given the opportunity to sign-up to participate in Intermountain’s HerediGene study.
