• A Clinical Trial to Evaluate the HeartWare® Ventricular Assist System (ENDURANCE):

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of the HeartWare Ventricular Assist System in patients with chronic stage D/NYHA Class IIIB/IV left ventricular failure who have received and failed optimal medical therapy, and who are ineligible for cardiac transplantation.

  • Heart Failure Tissue Registry:

This is an observational, non-randomized, open, long-term project to collect biological samples in addition to clinical information and laboratory test results, from end-stage patients who undergo LVAD implantation and/or heart transplantation.

  • Recovery of Hibernating Myocardium in End-Stage Heart Failure (RHIMES-HF):

In this collaboration with the University of Utah, investigators will collect clinical, echocardiographic, nuclear imaging ,and hemodynamic data in a group of patients with end-stage ischemic cardiomyopathy undergoing left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation to investigate the incidence of recovery of myocardial function.
