Blake and Nancy Roney have shown a lifelong commitment and devotion to family and religion, and to the betterment of their fellow man through charity and personal mission.

Their latest demonstration of the latter is an extraordinary gift of $5 million from Blake and Nancy, and their children to, Ascent…the Campaign for Utah Valley Hospital. This generous gift was made in memory of Blake’s mother, Jeane Roney, and the Hospital’s brand new Cancer Center will be named in her honor.

Blake and Nancy Roney are the parents of eight children, and are both very active in their community and church. Blake serves on numerous community and university boards, and both Blake and Nancy recently spent three years serving in Lyon, France as mission leaders for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Blake is currently serving in the LDS Church’s Quorum of the Seventy, serving as an Area Seventy.

The Cancer Center at Utah Valley Hospital is one of the transformational projects of the Hospital’s dramatic $430 million capital initiative. Ascent is, by far the largest investment ever made in healthcare and hospital services in Utah County and its surrounding communities.

Utah County has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade and experts have projected this same growth rate will continue and even increase for decades to come. This type of population growth demands that a significant investment be made to its healthcare services to ensure that the health needs of the community can be met as the population grows and ages over time. The Roney Family gift ensures this, and in the same spirit that Blake and Nancy Roney have served their fellow man through charity, it will benefit the community for generations.

In addition to the Cancer Center, Utah Valley Hospital’s campus will include a new Patient Tower, a Multi-Specialty Outpatient Center with state-of-the-art patient rooms, an enhanced and expanded Surgery Department, a much-needed expanded and upgraded Emergency Room Department, an Innovative Simulation Center specifically designed for advanced clinical training, the latest patient care technologies, and the Intermountain LiVe Well Center.

Quote from the Roneys: “We are still discovering that serving others is more fun than looking after our own desires. Our children seem to get this already but we hope to help them to continue to embrace the teachings of the Savior and turn outward. We are pleased to help improve our local health care for this entire community of extraordinary people and help Utah Valley Hospital to provide truly world class care right in our neighborhood. Cancer treatment is a great place to start. Our family experienced the full range of emotions and experience that cancer brings as Blake’s angelic mother fought cancer and eventually succumbed when he was a young missionary in France in 1978. Getting world class treatment matters beyond description.”
