Risk factors for peripheral vascular disease and heart disease are very similar. They both include hypertension (high blood pressure) and atherosclerosis (a process where plaque builds up inside the arteries).
In addition, many vascular disease patients also have heart disease, including coronary artery disease, heart attack, or stroke.
