On our maternity unit we'll help you recover from your delivery and prepare to transition home. The unit features 28 rooms that are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. Each features a DVD player, a large TV, and lovely views of the mountains.
Your nurse will help care for both mom and baby. We encourage mothers to keep their baby in the room with them most of the time to help the two bond. In most cases, routine care for your baby can be done in the room with you if you desire. Babies who need a little extra attention can receive care in our nearby Special Care Nursery.
There’s one other person who also gets some special attention: dad. Our center is designed to ensure the comfort and safety of each new mom and baby who stays here, but we’ve also taken extra steps to take care of dad, too. We have special fold-out beds for fathers that are almost as big as a regular double bed. They are much more comfortable than the beds you’ll find in many hospitals.
Other Special Features
In addition to our childbirth classes, we offer breastfeeding and discharge classes (with information on caring for new babies) after the big day.
Special Care Nursery
Our new Special Care Nursery provides care for babies who need a little extra attention. We're able to care for babies born at 34 weeks gestation and older who may have special needs with oxygen or feedings. Our staff is trained to give the right care these newborns' need.
Easy Access to Specialists
Riverton Hospital has a radiologist and pediatrician on-call 24-hours-a-day, 365 days a year, just in case mom or baby has some special needs after delivery. We also have rapid access to medical and surgical specialists if the need arises.
Complete Safety and Security
The Women’s Center at Riverton was designed to ensure complete safety for mothers and babies. Special codes are used to gain access to these areas and hospital-issued identification will be rigorously checked.
